Although the Raeford, North Carolina based Men in Christ members have been in and around the Gospel music industry for quite some time it wasn’t until June of 2008 the group was formed under the leadership of God and Mr. Donald Livingston Jr. The group’s style of music consists of some highly skilled traditional-styled gospel singing with a unique and distinctive sound. Donald began performing gospel music at the age of nine as a drummer. He has played with several local groups and national groups such as: Tommy Ellison and The Five Singing Stars, The CBS Trumpeters and Slim and The Supreme Angels. Several years ago, God gave Donald a vision about having his own group. God has blessed him with talented singers and musicians that form Men in Christ. Men in Christ group line-up consist of: Donald Livingston Jr. (Lead vocalist and manager) Donald Clark (baritone singer) Charles McCray (second tenor singer) Darron Littles (tenor singer) Dwight Sinclair (bass guitar) Franklin Trapp (keyboard) Delo Campbell (guitar) and Calvin Harris (drums) and Ed Green (lead guitar). Men in Christ have been blessed to share the stage with legends such as Ms. Essie Moss of Bill Moss and the Celestials and mother of J. Moss, Lee Williams and the Spiritual QCs, Doc McKenzie and The Gospel Hilites and others. Although Men in Christ haven’t been performing for along time, they have performed to enthusiastic audiences of all ages in North and South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia and Maryland. Men in Christ have received various awards that they give all glory to God for. Their goal is to spread the gospel (the good news) through songs to the world.

The comedian expressed his thoughts about the ordeal on Facebook stating, “I grew up like a real n*****. But I honestly believe, once I started doing America’s Got Talent, they took my real n***** card. They did! Because then, like, these type of people started showing up to my shows.” Cannon allegedly then pointed to three white audience members sitting in the front row. “I can’t do the real n***** stuff no more, because then they’ll put me on TMZ.” Cannon expressed his dismay with the way the joke was perceived. He took to social media to say this, "I find myself in a dark place having to make a decision that I wish I didn’t have to, but as a man, an artist, and a voice for my community I will not be silenced, controlled or treated like a piece of property. There is no amount of money worth my dignity or my integrity.”
